Assignment:

Redesign the WBHI logo and all support materials (including the website) to promote all of the events and its subsidiaries. The current logo, although providing a clear, iconic look for the organization, has limits to clarity and scalability in today’s mobile device driven society. The new MUST HAVES are 1) it must scale to any size big or small without ledgibility loss, 2) it must be recognizable instantaneously, 3) it must work with or without the spelled out title, 4) it must be color independent, and 5) it must be a bit less feminine, and more gender inclusive.

Task:

Redesign the Women’s Breast & Heart Initiative logo, visual identity and website.

Solution:

The font was the biggest issue. It was difficult to read at small sizes, and gave off an ultra-feminine vibe. The focus needs to be on ledgibility and clarity, so the primary solution was to use a newer, bolder font, that will make the logo easier to spot at smaller sizes, and less feminine, reaching a broader audience. The lady logo could be kept, be the two-tone effect made it difficult to see. so the graphic was changed to a solid color with only 4 seperate shapes.
There were several logos presented, but the client approved this version. This version only uses 2 colors, making it clear to read at any scale. Once selected, we proceded to create all the visual identity pieces to promote the new look. In creative usage, there are 2 secondary colors used as well (Pink and Red) to tie in the symbolism of breast and lung cancer awareness.
After completing the new design, we showcased it on several promotional products.
